INFORMATION FOR PUBLISHERS

We are currently accepting books submissions for the Winter quarter (to be published in October, November, December 2009); and pamphlets submissions for the Summer quarter (published in April, May, June 2009). Please see below for details or email pinda@poetrybooks.co.uk for submissions and listings forms.

All poetry publishers in the UK and Republic of Ireland are invited to submit their eligible titles to the Poetry Book Society. You may submit to the main quarterly PBS selections scheme, the Pamphlet Choice scheme, the Children's Poetry Bookshelf, the T S Eliot Prize or the Michael Marks Awards for Poetry Pamphlets. We usually ask for manuscripts six months in advance of publication, according to a carefully worked out schedule.

The relevant submission guidelines are available below. Please read them, contact us for further details about our trading arrangements and then ask to be included in our publishers' database if you wish to submit. All manuscripts need to be accompanied by submission forms, which we send to publishers four times a year (three times a year for the Children's Poetry Bookshelf, once a year for the T S Eliot Prize and the Michael Marks Awards for Poetry Pamphlets).

Please note - the only categories in which we accept self-published work are the PBS Pamphlet Choice category and the Michael Marks Awards Poetry Award. Please click on the links below to find out more about submitting publications to the PBS.

Our Selectors

Each quarter, manuscripts submitted to publishers are sent to our Selectors who decide on the Choice, Recommended and Special Commendation books (Paul Farley and Eva Salzman); Recommended Translation (Ruth Fainlight); and Pamphlet Choice
(Helen Ivory and Jacob Sam-La Rose). All queries relating to the selection process must go through the Poetry Book Society.

Submissions Schedule and Guidelines

The annual submissions cycle is divided into 4 quarters. The relevant issue of the Bulletin appears in the middle of each quarter (i.e. February, May, August, November). Submissions are generally requested 6 months in advance. The final submissions deadline will always be confirmed in the 'call for submissions' email/form.

If you would like to request a copy of this quarter’s book or pamphlet submissions and listings forms, or if you’d like to be added to our mailing list and receive the forms for subsequent quarters, email pinda@poetrybooks.co.uk

Please note: submissions forms will not be sent out in advance of the 'call for submissions' date. Submissions arriving outside this date and the deadline will not be accepted. All submissions will be acknowledged, but the PBS can accept no responsibility for manuscripts lost/delayed in transit.
